Dr. Hizar Subthain received his Bachelor's degree (2009) and Master's degree (2012) in the subject of Plant Breeding and Genetics from The University of Agriculture, Peshawar, Pakistan. He earned PhD degree (2013 - 2018) from the College of Life Science and Technology, Huazhong Agricultural University, Wuhan, China in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology major through the prestigious Chinese Government Scholarship under the China Scholarship Council (CSC). He conducted doctoral research work under the leadership of Prof. Luo Jie and his major research activities were revolving around Plant Metabolic Biology and Functional Genetics. He was a Postdoctoral Fellow (2019 - 2021) in the College of Life Science at South China Agricultural University, Guangzhou, China, where he was associated with research team of Prof. Letian Chen for exploring the molecular genetic and biochemical basis of plant male reproductive development.

Dr. Hizar is currently acting as a Postdoctoral Fellow in the research group of Prof. Shengying Li at Microbial Technology Institute, Shandong University, China. His research interests are concentrating on investigation and functional characterization of UDP-Glycosyltransferases (UGTs) in microbes and plants for the production of natural products.

He has published a research article in Nature Communications as an equal contributing author along with other papers as a co-author in well reputed journals. He has won scholarship grant and fellowships during his academic career. Additionally, he has been actively involved and played role in multiple cultural and volunteer activities on national and international level.
